This is the net income on your return before adjustments: it includes your OAS itself, CPP, RRSP/RRIF withdrawals and most other income, with dividends at their taxable (grossed-up) amount, capital gains at the taxable half and any pension income-splitting election already applied.
| Maximum OAS for your band | $0.00 |
| Recovery tax (15% above the threshold) | $0.00 |
| Tax on the OAS kept (marginal slice) | $0.00 |
The recovery tax is a tax for the year and is payable with that year's tax return, less anything already withheld from that year's OAS. In a first year over the threshold no recovery tax has normally been withheld, so all of it is owing on that return, due 30 April of the next year for most people.
The tax-on-OAS-kept line leaves out the federal age amount and any provincial age or pension credit, so it shows a plain marginal-tax-rate slice. Without the federal age amount the line is too low wherever the OAS kept sits between $46,432 and $107,818.67 of net income after the repayment, and too high wherever it sits between $16,452 and $25,660. Provincial age amounts were not read.
